FAQs

What do 'Person-Centred’, 'Strength-Based' and “Solution-Focused” actually mean?
  • Person-Centred: This means you are the focus. I listen without judgment and follow your lead, ensuring our sessions reflect your values and goals, not a rigid clinical agenda.
  • Strength-Based: Instead of looking for what is ‘wrong’ with you, we look for what is ‘right’ with you. We identify the skills and traits you already have and use them as tools to navigate your current challenges.
  • Solution-Focused: While we always make room for your story and your feelings, being solution-focused means we also look toward the future. We explore what is already working in your life (even the tiny things) and use those as blueprints to create the change you want to see. It’s about finding practical, real-world shifts that respect your energy and your unique circumstances.

Flexible Telehealth: Video or Phone
I am a 100% Telehealth practice, offering you the flexibility to meet in a way that feels most comfortable for your nervous system. You can choose:

  • Secure Video Calls: For a face-to-face connection from the privacy of your own home.
  • Phone Consultations: If you find video exhausting, prefer to walk while we talk, or simply need to reduce sensory input, we can conduct our entire session via phone.

Not at all. I understand that video calls can sometimes feel intense or overstimulating. You are more than welcome to turn your camera off or choose a phone session instead. My approach is person-centred, which means we prioritise the communication method that helps you feel the most regulated and able to speak freely.

Absolutely. We can decide session-by-session what works best for you. If you’re having a high-sensory day or a busy parenting morning, a phone call might be exactly what you need.

Just a private space where you feel comfortable talking, and a device with a camera (turned on or off) and stable internet connection (If the internet is patchy or if you’re having a high-sensory day, we can simply switch to a standard phone call.). If you’re a parent or carer, don’t worry if things aren’t “perfect” in the background; I understand the realities of home life.

My lived experience and professional focus are primarily centred on Autism and ADHD (including those who are self-identified). However, my neuro-affirming approach is inclusive of all types of brain wiring. I focus on the individual’s sensory needs, communication style, and executive functioning rather than just a diagnosis.

Absolutely. I am a self-identification affirming practitioner. You do not need a formal report or a “label” to access support for your neurodivergent experience in my practice.

I share my journey as a neurodivergent adult and parent because I know how exhausting it is to explain your world to someone who hasn’t walked it. My lived experience means we can skip the “intro to neurodiversity” and get straight to the support you need.

Not at all. My individual adult counselling is open to anyone seeking a warm, empathetic approach. While I have a specialized understanding of the ND community, the core of my work is helping any adult navigate life’s transitions and find their way back to themselves.

It means I celebrate your brain’s unique wiring rather than trying to “fix” it. Practically, this looks like:

  • Sensory Safety: You are welcome to use fidget tools, move around, or turn your camera off if you’re having a high-sensory day.
  • Communication Flexibility: There is no pressure to maintain “typical” eye contact or sit perfectly still.
  • Authenticity Over Masking: This is a space where you don’t have to “perform” or hide your traits to be understood.
